WHO YOU ARE
SUPPORTING
PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.
MacKids is the pediatric fund within the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, dedicated to raising funds in support of outstanding child health care and research at McMaster Children’s Hospital, Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre, and McMaster University Medical Centre. I chose to support MacKids because they directly impact critical care, research, and well-being for children in our community.
KEY STATISTICS.
McMaster Children’s Hospital is home to Canada’s largest neonatal ICU, the largest pediatric mental health program in Canada, and the only inpatient pediatric cancer program in south‑central Ontario.
1.
In 2019, the Ministry of Health invested $1.3 million into neonatal care services in Hamilton. The NICU at McMaster is regarded as the most advanced in the province, serving approximately 550 newborns transported annually via a dedicated neonatal ambulance service.
2.
Each year, MacKids supports more than 900 pediatric oncology patients receiving care in their oncology clinic, which is the only one of its kind in the region.
